Privacy policy

BigYap collects no data.

Nothing you say, and nothing the app writes down, ever leaves your device.

BigYap is a private, on device voice to text app for iPhone and Mac. Recording and transcription happen entirely on your device using Apple's on device speech recognition. Your audio and transcripts never leave it.

Microphone and speech recognition

BigYap uses the microphone to record your voice and Apple's on device speech model to turn it into text. Audio is processed in memory and is not saved to disk or sent anywhere.

Your transcripts

Transcripts are stored only in the app's local database on your device. You can delete any transcript, or all of them, at any time from the History tab. Sharing or copying a transcript happens only when you choose to.

Dictation on the Mac

On the Mac, BigYap can paste a finished transcript into the app you are typing in. This uses the Accessibility permission for a single paste keystroke. BigYap does not read, watch or record anything from other apps. If you prefer not to grant the permission, the text is copied to your clipboard instead.

No network, no tracking

The app has no analytics, no advertising, no accounts, no tracking and no third party SDKs. The only network activity is the operating system itself downloading Apple's on device speech model the first time it is needed.

Because BigYap collects no personal data, there is nothing for us to access, share, sell or delete.
